OVERVIEW

An18th century mill on the historic wall of Todi. The house has been gently restored keeping all the beam ceilings, terracotta and vaulted ceilings, but combined with a fresh modern Scandinavian feel. The house features 3 double bed rooms, all with en-suite bath room. The house is situated 5 minutes walk for the historic Piazza del Popolo in Todi, one of the best preserved medieval squares in Italy where guests will find a great choice of restaurants, bars and shops.

The owners, Thomas and Lisbeth, are both educated chefs, and before coming to Italy operated an Italian restaurant and Enoteca in Copenhagen for the last 11 years. They decided it was time for a change and wanted to be closer to the great raw materials, be able to pick that perfect artichoke from the crate, live and feel the Italian life – so the choice was clear – 2 one-way tickets to Italy.

When staying at Il Ghiottone Umbro – guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the many terraces with great views of the valley and the country side. But also the den with the fireplace, the library with 100’s of cooking books, the office with internet connection is open for guests convenience.

Evening meals are available upon request. The owners way of cooking is very seasonal and not only Umbrian food – but take many inspirations from around the beautiful country and put them all together in their own style of cooking. Its rustic country cooking, spiced up with a few modern touches, loads of fresh ingredients – many of which are grown locally – but essentially still very classical and down to earth.

Cooking lessons are available during your stay – it can be one lesson during your stay to an actual cooking holiday with multiple lessons, visits to wine producers, organic farms or a early morning visit to the market.
